This abstract was created, primarily, in a grove of trees.
Fall in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains is a beautiful time. And we've all seen many beautiful images — hopefully you've seen them on my site. In one particular grove of trees, the scenery was typically beautiful BUT I was struggling to find a way to shoot it. It was in the late afternoon and the trees were not lit very well. Which led me to try a technique that could actually take advantage of the dark scene. I adjusted my shutter speed to a long setting and swept the camera up from the ground to the top of the trees during the exposure. Then I added a little extra saturation in Photoshop and viola!
