A mountain peak peeks over glaciers in Alaska.
Ansel Adams is a muse and inspiration, most likely, to virtually all landscape photographers — certainly to this one. With this image, I followed his Zone system to convey the huge tonal range in the scene and draw one's eye to the brightest spot, the sharp mountain peak in the distance. There's a lot going on in the scene, from the huge columns of glacial ice in the foreground to that distant peak and they all play a role in the harsh yet beautiful landscape.
